Six Years Older, Six Years Better
August 2023. The month Codexio turned six years old. And you know what that means? Time to party.
We’re talking balloons, we’re talking cake, we’re talking a party center that probably wasn’t ready for a bunch of developers with something to celebrate. Spoiler: We had a blast.

The Setup: Purple, Gold, and Ready to Party
Walking into the party center, you couldn’t miss it—our brand colors everywhere. Purple and gold balloons filled the room, our banner was front and center, and honestly? It looked pretty damn good.
Someone (we’re not naming names) spent way too much time arranging those balloons into the perfect Instagram-worthy setup. And you know what? Worth it.

The Games Begin
Here’s what happens when you give competitive developers a party center with games: Chaos. Beautiful, hilarious chaos.
What We Played:
- Beer pong (some of us learned we’re better at debugging than aiming)
- Foosball (surprisingly intense, surprisingly loud)
- Board games (which got philosophical at around the 3rd round)
- Just Dance (let’s not talk about it)
- Random challenges we made up on the spot
The competitive spirit was REAL. These are the same people who argue about code in pull requests—imagine them competing for party game supremacy.
Overheard quote: “I didn’t come here to lose at beer pong to a backend developer.”
The Cake
No birthday is complete without cake. And this wasn’t just any cake. This was:
- Perfectly on-brand (look at that logo!)
- Actually delicious (rare for corporate cakes)
- Big enough for everyone
- Complete with sparkler candles (because regular candles are too boring)
- Gone in approximately 10 minutes

There was a ceremonial “Happy Birthday Codexio” song. It was off-key. It was beautiful. Someone lit the sparkler candles and everyone pulled out their phones at once. Peak millennial moment.
The Good Vibes (and Slightly Less Sober Vibes)
As the night went on, the vibes got progressively better and the coordination got progressively… well, you know how it goes.
The Evolution of the Evening:
- 7 PM: Professional photos, everyone looking sharp
- 9 PM: Games getting competitive, trash talk intensifying
- 11 PM: Someone’s doing karaoke. No one remembers agreeing to karaoke.
- 1 AM: Deep conversations about life, code, and whether JavaScript is truly async
By the end of the night, we weren’t just coworkers celebrating a company milestone. We were friends who’d just spent hours laughing, competing, and creating memories that would definitely come up in Monday’s standup.

What We Learned
After six years of Codexio and one incredible birthday party, here’s what we learned:
- We work well together - But we party even better together
- Competition is healthy - Even in foosball at midnight
- Good vibes are contagious - Especially with good people
- Developers can dance - We said CAN, not WELL
- Purple and gold balloons - Make everything better
The Morning After
Monday morning standup hit different. Everyone showed up (impressive). Everyone had stories (expected). Everyone agreed it was worth it (unanimous).
Slack messages the next day:
- “Who won at beer pong? I genuinely don’t remember.”
- “Did we really do karaoke?”
- “Next year, we do this again. But bigger.”
Thank You
To the team that made the past six years amazing. To the friends we made along the way. To whoever organized this party (seriously, thank you). And to whatever happens in year seven.
Here’s to many more birthdays, many more celebrations, and many more reasons to fill a room with purple and gold balloons.
Want to be part of our next birthday? Join our team and bring your A-game (and your party game).
P.S. - We still haven’t found all the balloons. They keep appearing in random places around the office.
